2006 NaNoWriMo journal for rhombal.



In a place with deep connections to the city of Madison, there exists a mysterious society where the inhabitants include everything and everyone that has ever been imagined, worshipped, or written about in a fairy tale or myth. This society has peacefully and unobtrusively existed for thousands of years. It is simply called The Village, and its fate is closely linked to that of our world.

Lucifer Morningstar has finally decided that enough is enough. He is tired of the hype, of God picking on him, of constantly being the scapegoat. Hoping to find a better existence, he quits his so-called "job" as the Devil and moves to the commercialized area of The Village where entities like Santa Claus and Cupid live. This is where it all begins; "it" being the strange rumours and undercurrents, the mysterious deaths of important holidays, and the sudden influx of seemingly normal people into The Village.

When will it all end? Will Lucifer Morningstar give consent to a holiday where the celebrants practice Satanism and wear plastic devil horns? Will Santa Claus be allowed to continue his villainous yearly practice of breaking and entering? And most importantly, what would Jesus do?

These and more questions will be answered in this year's novel, aptly titled Satan Claus.
